Hi folks! I can actually access this site today, and it looks really good. The Chinese title seems a little small, but I like the purple font.

Hey, there are three votes on the site! One’s mine – did you vote twice, Mei?

I finished reading the abridges Story of 3 Kingdoms today – I knew we were approaching the end when Kongming, the most interesting figure, finally died but still kept scaring people shitless! That Xuande sure was a downer – crying all the time, protesting his desire to relieve the people’s suffering, then creating more useless wars and destroying more people and crops and material comforts.

I read in Wikipedia that estimates of the Chinese population at the beginning of the period covered by 3Kingdoms was 56 million, and that by the end of the book/establishment of the Jin dynasty, it had dwindled to 16 million. Not hard to see why.

I’m blogging again. Reading the Monkey King parts of Journey to the West – what a contrast to the very decorous world of 3K!
