Coffee update
Alas, Jack Yu has left the coffee distribution business and gone into currency exchange! So how to get my wonderful Vietnamese coffee? Once I’d started to run low, drastic steps were required.
I went downtown, to the Liang Court Mall, on the river walk near Clark Quay (east side of the river). On the second floor there is a Trung Nguyen coffee shop, where you can get roasted, ground coffee as well as cups of coffee and some pastries (the tiramisu cake was a bit stale – not recommended, but the Hot Vanilla drink was very nice). So I loaded up my long-suffering husband with about 5 kilos of Creative 1 coffee beans and we came home, schlepping the stuff all the way to the far western reaches of Singapore.
Bear in mind that there’s got to be a better way to get Trung Nguyen coffee – with my own eyes I have seen a Trung Nguyen delivery truck parked outside the university swimming pool! So they must deliver, if you know how to reach them. The pool staff, by the way, although a friendly enough group, don’t seem to drink that much coffee, and I’ve never sniffed it when I walk by their staff room, so I’m not sure what the delivery truck was doing there. Perhaps the driver went for a dip.
