New Category: Sculpture in Singapore!
There are a lot of sculptures in Singapore’s public areas, and I thought I’d post pictures of them. Let’s start with the newest in the fruit series, the Giant Nutmeg outside the new ION shopping center.
It’s pretty accurate: stem, nutmeg, coating of mace, and outer fruit, which you can buy in pickled form in many Malaysian snack shops. (I’ve tried it but don’t care for it, largely because it tastes like everything else they pickle here – sweet and syrupy.) Just why you’d want a 3-meter-high nutmeg in front of a shopping center is a question for which I have no answer.
