ASEAN Sculpture Garden: Concrete Crescent

This sculpture is at the apex of the sculpture garden.  I understand that crescents are important in Islamic imagery, and are parts of the flags of Singapore and Malaysia.  But would you want this one dominating the horizon?

The artist took a naturally graceful shape and turned it into something that looks like it came from a PlayDoh extruder.  Or maybe a pasta machine.  Good thing there are trees around it, or the highest strategic peak in downtown Singapore would be too obviously surmounted by a piece of elbow macaroni.

Aha!  It’s a salute to macaroni and cheese!
