Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

Yup, it’s that time of year again. The end of Ramadan, the middle of Yom Kippur, and the delightful Chinese frenzy of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. It’s also the big lantern festival, so here are some sights from our very own Chinese Gardens in Jurong East.

This is the Stone Boat on the left, on the lake that’s usually inhabited by fish and turtles, but has lots of lanterns floating in it now. Over across the lake are the defunct tea house and its pavilions, and up behind those is the 7-story pagoda.

A closer look at the lanterns.

And here’s an even closer look at the lotus lanterns. Have I mentioned that I like this festival?
And here’s a family lighting its own lanterns from candles. The air is so still that they can do this without shields. Then the kids get to carry around the lanterns on little sticks.
